Take Action, Get Involved
Even during the pandemic lockdown, our lives are still busy. Between personal and professional responsibilities, all of us had to adapt to new ways of life. With so much going on it’s understandable that keeping up-to-date on voting information can be challenging, but now is not the time to not be distracted.
Every single vote matters and every single vote counts. The American voting system can be very complex to understand, as each state determines its own guidelines and deadlines. Find more information about your state online at the U.S. Vote Foundation.
Another great way to stay informed on important information is to join or follow a voter registration awareness organization. Below I’ve highlighted my 7 favorite voting organizations to follow. These organizations stand out to me because they provide excellent communication, deliver critical information in a timely and digestible manner, and are very active and involved on social media (where many people spend a lot of time). Browse the organizations below and feel free to leave a comment if you have other recommendations.
Happy Voting!

Black Voters Matter
Black Voters Matter goal is to increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Effective voting allows a community to determine its own destiny. They agree with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he said, “Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”
Black Voters Matter believes that independent political power requires independent economic power, and they are sensitive to the many forms of economic coercion which often discourage community members from fully participating in civic life. They also believe that political victories that lack a strong economic base are simply not sustainable. As Black Voters Matter explore the intersection of political and economic power, they strive to uplift economic models and policies which support the equitable distribution of wealth rather than deepening economic disparities.
