What I'm Listening To
During a recent commute in the city, I discovered the Dare to Lead with Brené Brown podcast from an advertisement on another show. While I waited on the subway platform, I decided to give it a quick listen and almost missed my train in the process. I was so intrigued by what Brené was saying that I didn’t realize the train was approaching. Her words about leadership during crisis brought up fresh memories and deeply resonated with me. Compelled to keep listening, I waited to board the train until the first episode finished downloading. The doors almost closed in my face but I made it! My fellow commuters understand the struggle of losing service while underground, especially with train delays.
Before I could finish the entire episode, I knew this was a critical resource worth sharing with my network of leaders and future leaders. In between gaps of service, I texted the link to a few friends telling them it was a must-listen podcast. Whether you already hold a leadership role or aspire to become a leader one day, this podcast is definitely worth a listen.
I want to live in a world with braver, bolder leaders. And I want to be able to pass that kind of world onto my children.
In her first solo episode, Brené explains why the future of leadership requires braver leaders and more courageous cultures. You will also learn about skill-building and the differences between armored and daring leadership. Click below to listen and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Brené’s newest podcast is based on her book, Dare to Lead, which debuted at #1 on the New York Times, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists, and has become the ultimate courage-building playbook for leaders at every level. Brené writes, “The Dare to Lead podcast will be a mix of solo episodes and conversations with change-catalysts, culture-shifters, and as many troublemakers as possible. Innovating, creating, and building a better, more just world, requires daring leadership in every part of our daily lives – from work to home to community. Together, we’ll have conversations that help us show up, step up, and dare to lead.
