What I'm Listening To
Over the summer I finally started reading books again but I haven’t made as much progress as I wished. Creating quiet time to focus and read is still a challenge for me, but I’m always trying to improve. Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming still remains one of the many books on my wishlist so I was excited to hear about the launch of her new podcast. Listening to something while multi-tasking is one of my favorite pastimes. I’ll often juggle between podcasts and music while running, cooking, showering, commuting etc.
This podcast was a breath of fresh air for me. It provided a nostalgic memory of when our country had inspiring leadership that communicated in a more respectful, dignified, compassionate manner. I miss the good’ol days of less hate and divisive rhetoric. Hopefully, things will improve after the upcoming election.
In the meantime, listening to the Michelle Obama podcast has been a warm space to enjoy. She invites listeners to join intimate conversations with her personal connections that explore the relationships that make us who we are. Michelle and her guests discuss questions that many of us are also trying to answer and hopes to inspire other meaningful conversations.
“I hope this podcast will help you open up new conversations—and hard conversations—with the people who matter most to you. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another—especially during times like this.”
If you’re looking for a down-to-earth positive light during these dark times I highly recommend adding this podcast to your playlist rotation. Listen to an episode above or watch the trailer below. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
